King of Orange and Black by LuxDani King of Orange and Black by LuxDani
Inspired by Idlewild. More specifically, Halloween, but I suppose the cover of the book helped.
It needs to be read again. I do love that book.

Its been awhile since I've painted, so I gave this a go last night. Tried finishing it anyhow, this is about three weeks old, I was kinda wary about the state of the paper under the masking fluid. It was fine though.

No references, and painted entirely with watercolours.

Haha, I like the title. King of Orange and Black, indeed. Wait, why not Queen? Oh, now that you remind me, these are the colors of Halloween. Wow, it's amazing that you did it without reference... so it's just pure memory work! I like the aura-like border-like thingy (sorry, I have a limited vocabulary xD). It makes this 'King' stand out more... He looks really real :D On a second look, I think it could look with looking more symmetrical, though. Good job with your watercolours. Now I really want to take art as a subject... but I already have 8 subjects... sigh.

King of Orange and Black has reference to my favorite book of all time, Idlewild by Nick Sagan. :)

Aw noes, you should really try to take an art course if you are even the slightest bit interested!

I would if I could... because if I take up art, I have a lot to catch up on... 8 months' worth of work! Plus, I would have to give up one subject...
