Life from the Eyes of a Hero by LuxDani Life from the Eyes of a Hero by LuxDani
EDIT:// Huh. I just noticed that the eye highlights turned out weirdly yellow with my camera..

Number two, of the eye-themed art project.
This one was done with watercolours, and HOLY HELL, I didn't do myself a favour whatsoever. This was referenced from the cover of a National Geographic, and the photo was of a fierce-looking snowy owl chick. Snowy freaking owl. Those tiny little white feathers everywhere with snow would have been suicide. Even with masking fluid. So snowy owl chick is now a dark owl chick, that doesn't even look like a chick. And I have no idea what kind of owl this is now supposed to look like. So. An owl.
OH MY GOD I'M LOSING MY MIND, MY SISTER IS RUBBING OFF ON ME
She just imputted herself into my phone THIRTEEN FRIGGIN' TIMES. With various names such as "The Most Wonderful Person You Know", "I Know Where U Live", and my favorite, "The Alien You Live With". And she inputted God's number too. Which just so happens to be 000-000-0000. Ahem.

I'm surprised how well my camera worked on this, its night time so it should have turned out like crap. I'll probably take a better photo tomorrow anyways but I probably won't re-upload.

Anyways, enjoy! =D
Comments are extremely appreciated <3<3

Oh thank you!
I always put so much effort into the eyes because I find that they are the part that will bring a painting to life.

I love the way you did the feathers on the head, the way they're displayed creates a really wicked effect as you scroll down to see the rest of the image. And for a moment it feels like the owl is alive and its head is moving :-O

Your traditional pieces never cease to amaze me. The sheer detail in those feathers just blows me away - I love how realistic they are with that perfect shading and that wide mix of tones. It's really natural looking and beautiful. <333

Those eyes really pop too! Gorgeous bold colours in them.

I can't even fathom taking on something like this in watercolor, it looks amazing!! You should post a tutorial sometime ;)

So THAT'S what God's number is, no wonder I haven't been able to reach Him lately; I still had His old number xD

I'll have to think about a tutorial of sorts. I'm not sure where I'd start though, I don't really have a set style when it comes to watercolours. I just sorta..paint. :)

Watercolours sure is a difficult medium when it comes to detail, but I do love a challenge. =D
Ooh I love pastel! Such an awesome medium to work with, I especially love using it with velour paper.

Its got a bit of a nap to it, almost like a velvet of sorts. It gives such a nice dreamy quality, even if details are a little more difficult to achieve.

Hmm the colours may be similar to a Great Gray, but the face shape is pretty different, not to mention the Great Gray has a pretty yellow beak.
