Save Me by LuxDani Save Me by LuxDani
Every once and a while I paint something that I actually want to show to the world because I am so proud of it.
This is one of those pieces.

Its a contest entry for :iconafricanvalley: for their Endangered Africa contest. I chose, obviously, the cheetah.
I aimed for those pleading eyes, those "save me" eyes.

The colours seem a bit off here on my computer, they're more golden-brown in real life.

Painted with acrylics on a 11"x14" canvas <3

Feedback is hugely appreciated

How you've got the inspiration for this? Looks really emotional and beautiful :meow:

It was originally for an endangered species contest, and I wanted to go with a pleading look. Other than that, it just kinda happened! Still one of my favorite pieces of mine <3

Well, you definitely cought that look, that was the first thing I've noticed. And it perfectly match with the topic, you're genius! :D I love the way you drew the fur. It looks really... IDK, semi-realistic! The way I love the most --> realism with the artist fantasy in it, so it looks like it has magic in it. I have to try this style --> I've just got my second canvas :D (first I used on pop art) Do you have any advices for me? I don't want to screw it up. I'm thinking about trying lion or some landscape... Also I wanted to ask, how did you manage that little strokes? I haven't seen a brush small enough and hard enough to use with acrylics. And that white... I might have cheaper acrylics, because my white doesn't cover that well :S

Well the first bit of advice for painting on canvas, is don't be afraid to mess up. All you have to do is paint over it, and start again! :) I always have the tendency to start big, which always results in a huge struggle but honestly, I like doing it that way.
I do have some pretty fine brushes, but making fine strokes comes with practice too. The larger your canvas, the less fine your details have to be (unless you are like me and detail the crap out of it anyway). It also does help to have some decent quality paints and brushes, I'm slowly building my supplies stock.
