Description
I love elephants. In my mind they are old souls, with tales to tell and wisdom to share. Plus their wrinkly faces are super fun to illustrate.
I've always loved working with paper dyed with tea, it creates amazing colours, textures and patterns. This time I dyed an 11x14 sheet of bristol and adhered it to a 1/4" thick piece of masonite, and it feels so much better than plain paper. Adhering it to the masonite gives it more weight, not to mention prevents the paper from wrinkling.
Once my paper was fixed to the board, I went to town with various ink pens and then used brown watercolours to add some depth.
I'm super thrilled with the result, I can't wait to do more. I'm hoping to create a little series of animals on tea-dyed paper.
Enjoy!
